Update

I met with Lt. Weible of the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit of the Wichita Police Department this morning. I learned a lot about what they are doing as well as some of the other agencies serving kids in our area. We'll be working with them to help staff the Missing Kids van at Riverfest. Some of their officers are planning to attend our Volunteer Roundtable meeting May 17th at Mead's.

RSVP here if you'd like to attend: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=116142985134069

I am attending a meeting this evening at the Good Neighbor Center. This building will hopefully become the new daytime drop-in center for homeless youth very soon. I'm excited to get a first look inside the building so I know what we're working with. Check back soon for information on volunteer opportunities at the new space including a possible community work day to get it spruced up for the kids.

The Children's Home has some immediate donation needs that they have asked me to spread to our wonderful volunteers and followers:

Men’s Deodorant
Little Boys Briefs size 2/3 & 6/8
Little Girls Underwear size 2/3
We also need shoes for our little ones for summer. We can accept used shoes as long as they are still in good shape. The sizes we need are for toddlers and young children:
Boys 4, 6 &7
Girls size 4,7, 8 & 10

I know Old Navy has flip flops 2 for $5 and they may have another $1.00 sale sometime soon. Next time you're at the mall, maybe pop in there and grab a few pairs?

I also met with the gals of Gracepoint Church this week and I'm excited to see how they will come alongside us in this adventure. So many great things happening.

The meeting on the 17th will be HUGE for getting the community involved. Please consider attending if at all possible. We need all the help we can get in many different areas. If you have a skill, talent, interest and/or desire to help...we'll put you to work!
