So, if you’re here it’s probably because of this video:

We’re SO excited to be teaming up with the crew at Mead’s Corner to create a big scene at this year’s River Festival. We’ll have some banners that will go up, some cards to pass out and some info to share with bystanders about the issue of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in our city.

If you would like to participate, just show up! And if you have any questions, email us at Or, stop in Mead’s and holler at Sam. (Grab an “Irish Zebra Turtle” while you’re there…YUM!)

For more information on this issue, check out as well. Or click on their widget over on the side bar. Great folks working on an incredible documentary.

Hope to see you June 9th at 5:30!

The next big thing…

We’re teaming up with Mead’s Corner to create a BIG moment at this year’s River Festival.

Stay tuned for more details or email for info on how you can get involved!

And we’re stoked to have the folks at  Trade in Hope  partnering with us. You can view the trailer for their documentary here:

If you’re looking for a way to donate- you can do so on their Kickstarter page. They are great folks with a great project and a real heart for this issue!

If you haven’t read it yet, check out this great article in Vanity Fair Magazine:

Our First Meeting: Success!

This is the email that was sent out to attendees of tonight’s meeting. If you were not at the meeting and would like to be added to the email list, please send your info to and I’ll add you.

Hello Everyone!
Thank you SO much for taking time out of your busy schedules to make tonight’s meeting a priority. I hope that you got something out of the discussion and that you feel like you were able to plug in. I have set up the Facebook group:

ICT S.O.S Facebook Group

I will compile the notes from all the committees and get them out soon. In the meantime here’s some action items from tonight’s meeting:

I did not get the contact list from the Outreach Committee- can someone send that to me? (Nancy?)

EMCU & WCH- Please compile a wishlist of items that the fundraising/donation committees can start working on gathering for you.

EMCU will be presenting training for our volunteer members at a meeting June 21st. (Location TBD)

Facebook Event Page for the next meeting/training.

Sara Zafar is going to create a draft of a mission statement for everyone to review and have input on at our next meeting.

I will be meeting with Karen Countryman-Roswurm next week.

Please add yourselves to the facebook group. I will have to approve members so that we can make sure we’re keeping a handle on who is seeing the info we’ll be posting.

I will compile a list of each committee’s members and the committee heads. If you would like to switch, add, or lead a committee other than what I have you listed for, let me know! I want to make sure everyone is serving where their talents and passions are!

I would like everyone to bring a list with them to the next meeting of possible donors/volunteers/partners that may be able to help with immediate needs for the drop-in center.

If there’s anything I’ve forgotten, please let me know! I’m so excited to see where we can go with this. I KNOW we can change our city.

I met with Lt. Weible of the Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit of the Wichita Police Department this morning. I learned a lot about what they are doing as well as some of the other agencies serving kids in our area. We’ll be working with them to help staff the Missing Kids van at Riverfest. Some of their officers are planning to attend our Volunteer Roundtable meeting May 17th at Mead’s.

RSVP here if you’d like to attend:

I am attending a meeting this evening at the Good Neighbor Center. This building will hopefully become the new daytime drop-in center for homeless youth very soon. I’m excited to get a first look inside the building so I know what we’re working with. Check back soon for information on volunteer opportunities at the new space including a possible community work day to get it spruced up for the kids.

The Children’s Home has some immediate donation needs that they have asked me to spread to our wonderful volunteers and followers:

Men’s Deodorant
Little Boys Briefs size 2/3 & 6/8
Little Girls Underwear size 2/3
We also need shoes for our little ones for summer. We can accept used shoes as long as they are still in good shape. The sizes we need are for toddlers and young children:
Boys 4, 6 &7
Girls size 4,7, 8 & 10

I know Old Navy has flip flops 2 for $5 and they may have another $1.00 sale sometime soon. Next time you’re at the mall, maybe pop in there and grab a few pairs?

I also met with the gals of Gracepoint Church this week and I’m excited to see how they will come alongside us in this adventure. So many great things happening.

The meeting on the 17th will be HUGE for getting the community involved. Please consider attending if at all possible. We need all the help we can get in many different areas. If you have a skill, talent, interest and/or desire to help…we’ll put you to work!

Wichita Children’s Home’ Street Outreach and the Wichita Police Department’s Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit will be manning the missing children van. We’re looking for volunteers to help staff it. We’d like people to take at least a 2 hour shift, if possible.

Please take a look at the schedule and let me know if there is a time slot you’d like to grab!
